72 Feature Wins and Counting......
Name: Kevin Hutchens Nickname: KMAN Height: 5' 8" Weight: 120 lbs. (soaking wet) Age: 16 Experience: 7 Years Favorite Track: Lee Speedway, Lee NH Goal: To go to college and earn a degree to be able to pay for my racing career
My name is Kevin "Kman" Hutchens and racing is WHAT I DO!! I have an outstanding personality and I always bring my ‘A’ game to everything I do. I am a straight A+ honored student, along with playing soccer, running track and racing I have learned to schedule his time and put everything I have into what I do. In racing, I’ve been one of the hot up and coming drivers on the Maine Legend Car scene. I demanded the respect of my fellow racers by beating them at such a young age. When I was 13, I was racing in the top divisions at the local kart tracks. These divisions, before I arrived, had been dominated by adults. With myself barely a teenager, I stepped in and showed everyone how it was done by winning 2 out of every 3 races I entered that year. With the 30 race wins that year alone, I secured two championships along with a ride for the 2008 season in a Legend Car. This was great step in the right direction for my career as a racer. Legend cars are the third largest sanctioned racing body in the world. With over 20,000 cars that race in the United States, Canada and Europe, there would be lots of competition for me. In my first year I raced on a partial schedule so that I and the team could learn about the car and prepare ourselves for the following year. I was also no old enough to race every race, but the races that I did compete in, I made a big impression. Even with the partial schedule, Kevin still raced himself to two 4th place finishes, 2nd in rookie of the year and 9th out of 32 in the overall points standing for the NELCAR division. Gaining key experience I went into the 2009 season confident and on a mission. For the first part of the season, the two car team of Hutchens Racing struggled to find a grip on the car. But in the fourth race I hit his stride. I won my heat race and finishing a very close 2nd in the feature to one of top legend car drivers in the country. The next six races I never finished outside the top 8 and I scored three 3rd place finishes in a row and moved to second in the point standings. In my first nation race, I showed tremendous strength and speed finishing second in my heat, putting me 4th on the 28 car grid. But I finished a dismal 24th after mechanical failure plagued the weekend for many drivers. But I sprang back the next week almost winning my first race but falling short and bring home a 2nd place after a tough battle with the veterans of the sport. With the final week in the championship coming around I was sitting 2nd in the points. Having to start in the back, I had a lot of work ahead. On the second lap there was multi-car incident in the front of the 23 car field. This caused a chain reaction crash that I got caught up in. I went airborne over a car and landed sideways, breaking the right front wheel off and heavily damaging the car. I consequently fell to 5th place tie in the point standings after a great season. With the strength I showed last year and with another year of experience under his belt I am looking to make a splash in the 2010 season. The advertisement of your business is my number one priority at Hutchens Racing. You the sponsor deserve the maximum exposure wherever Hutchens Racing goes. In 2009 over 30,000 race fans across the northeast saw and heard our sponsors. There are many ways that we show our pride and thanks in our sponsors. One is by wearing them on our custom shirts and race suits at the track. Plus the racecars and trailer are covered with your company logo and information. Also on my website www.kman27.com your logo and companies name is displayed with information about business and a link to your website. This goes along with the multiple other places your logo appears throughout the website, including the top and bottom of every page and on the home page. I have also made up cards to give to the fans during the multiple autograph sessions we have a year. 2009's cards are shown below, we gave out over 2,000 of them at only 2 autograph sessions. In 2009 Hutchens Racing invested in an in-car race camera. This allows us to tape my racing from the perspective of the car. I have also invested in movie making software that allows me to place your logo and website address at the beginning of every video. I take all of these videos and post them to my You Tube profile. To date I have over 2,650 views of my videos with the logo being seen at the beginning of each one. Check one out by going to www.youtube.com/user/27Kman. In the 2010 season Hutchens Racing will be competing in several of the premiere events in New England. The P.A.S.S. (or Pro All Star Series) North Tour is a very prestigious series and has many fans that travel to watch them race with the stands always being full. One of the race weekends that we will be a part of is the P.A.S.S. 400 weekend. This is the biggest race of the P.A.S.S North series and drivers and teams from as far south as Florida and West as Indiana come to race. Hutchens Racing entered one car into the legend feature last year. I had to start 11th by draw and moved to the top 5 in the first 10 laps of the 50 lap feature. I continued to run there until I contact that blew my left front tire and caused me to drop to a disappointing 9th place finish. The Legend cars will also have a race at the 4th annual 4 Cylinder Nationals at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in August, where I finished 24th last year. Many people from across New England travel to see this race as it provides some of the best racing of the year. With Beech Ridge being my home track I can’t wait to finish the great run I had last year, but this time in victory lane! There are still some questions up in the air about several events that Hutchens Racing may attend. One of the races being the Legend Car Nationals at Langley Speedway in Virginia and the possible opening of a legend car track at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway. These will all come together as the season progresses and schedules are finalized. OVER 2,000 HERO CARDS GIVEN OUT TO FANS IN 2009
2010 is hopefully going to be a breakout year for myself. With your help and support I can make that dream a reality. If you want to become a part of Hutchens Racing and sponsor the car, team and driver contact me at kartracer@kman27.com for more information.
